We are deeply honored to receive a letter of support from a distinguished and renowned theorist in the nursing field – Dr. Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, LL (AAN), a Distinguished Professor and Dean Emerita, University of Colorado Denver, College of Nursing (USA), and Founder/Director of Watson Caring Science Institute (WCSI).
Dr. Watson occupied the nation’s inaugural endowed Chair in Caring Science for 16 years. As the founder of the pioneering Center for Human Caring in Colorado (USA), she is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). Furthermore, she has served as the President of the National League for Nursing (NLN) and is a founding member of both the International Association in Human Caring (IAHC) and the International Caritas Consortium. In 2013, Dr. Watson received the highest honor from the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) by being inducted as a Living Legend. She has been awarded 16 Honorary Doctoral Degrees, including 13 International Honorary Doctorates from countries such as Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain, British Columbia, and Quebec in Canada, Japan, Turkey, Peru, Colombia in South America, Ireland, and Slovenia. She has recently received the Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (FFNMRCSI Hon) – RISC, Dublin, Ireland.
Dr. Watson’s Ethic-Philosophy and Transpersonal Theory of Human Caring aim to transform models in different nursing domains, including education, research, and leadership. Her prestigious work (over 30 books) on caring provides the foundation for enhancing professional caring-healing practices for hospitals, nurses, and patients across various global settings.
Dr. Watson’s endorsement not only validates the importance of our research network but also inspires us to continue our commitment to advancing nursing knowledge and practice.
