CARE4NEt would like to welcome Dr. Meltem Çatalbaş as a research member to be part of the following strategic themes:
Dr. Çatalbaş is an Assistant Professor in the Paediatric Health and Diseases Nursing Department, within the Division of Nursing, at Kütahya Health Sciences University. After seven years of clinical nursing practice in Pediatric Departments (e.g., cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and healthy child monitoring), she earned my MSc from Marmara University in 2013. Her master’s research focused on the ‘Family Centred Nursing Approach Towards the Desperation Level of Parents Who Have Children with Down Syndrome and Heart Disease’.
As the recipient of a prestigious PhD scholarship awarded by the Turkish Ministry of National Education, Dr. Çatalbaş completed her PhD studies with a full scholarship at the University of Sheffield in 2022. In her thesis, she employed an intensive fieldwork-oriented ethnographic methodology to understand the perspectives and experiences of children living with obesity and their experiences of obesity intervention. As a trained nursing professional bringing seven years of experience delivering exceptional care to young people, coupled with her role as a dedicated paediatric nurse researcher, she brings extensive expertise in understanding young people’s perspectives on their lived experience, health, and disease.
